The Cross River State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (MEDA) has intensified efforts to collaborate with other government agencies to drive economic growth. In line with this objective, a delegation from MEDA recently paid a courtesy visit to the State Ministry of Youth Development.
Led by the Director General, Great Ogban, the MEDA team highlighted the agency’s commitment to youth empowerment and enterprise development through initiatives such as the People Oriented Initiatives for Skills and Enterprise Development (POISED) program. The delegation also emphasized the You-LEAP program, which aims to empower 5,000 youths with entrepreneurial skills and create 1,000 new businesses within two years.
In response, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr. Odum-Ijom Ukam, commended the administration of His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu, for placing young people in key leadership positions. He expressed the ministry’s dedication to youth self-sufficiency and outlined programs like the Skills in the Hands Initiative to support this goal.
Both agencies expressed optimism about the potential for collaboration to create a more robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in Cross River State.
In attendance were also top management officials from both MEDA and the Ministry of Youth Development.
