BEING THE TEXT OF WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE ADDRESSED BY THE NANS ZONE B SOUTH SOUTH ON THURSDAY 22ND OF SEPTEMBER 2022.
Fellow Nigerian students,
Gentlemen of the press.
It is with great pleasure, we welcome you all to this press briefing, we thank our great Nigerian students for believing in our ability to farther the general interest that concerns us as students.
1.As the leadership of NANS ZONE B, we wishes to restate our total commitment towards the return of Nigerian students to the various campuses,as we give a vote of confidence to comrade Usman Barambu led administration for a job weldon in bridging the gap between federal government and the academic staff Union of universities (ASUU), We reaffirm our total stand by calling the ASUU body to honour the court order of reopening the institutions as we equally call on the federal government to as a matter of urgency subscribe to the demands of ASUU.
- Following the recent activities of our prestigious organisation (NANS), the attention of the NANS ZONE B SOUTH SOUTH, has been draw to a court suit filed by a self acclaimed president who contested on genuine ground and lost to usman Umar barambu at the old parade ground FCT Abuja, We wish to clearly state that one cannot have Nigerian students at heart without considering the peace and total outcome in a process that was peaceful and credible, As leadership of NANS ZONE B, We hereby charge Comr. Usman Umar Barambu led administration to remain focus inother to redeem the most anticipated expectations of Nigerian students.
- As a ZONE or region that sustains the nation in terms of the economic and wealth, it is sad to witness the deplorable State of roads in the south south region, as the leadership of NANS, we hereby implore the federal government to as a matter of urgency to fix the roads in South South states to reduce road accident to the bearest minimum thereby saving the lives and future of Nigerian students.
- We call on the federal and state government to place emphasis on the proper funding of the educational sector. In all the 6 states of the South South Region. Consequently NANS ZONE B SOUTH SOUTH Executive insist that UNESCO recommendation of 26% allocation to education by all developing nations should be adhered to. In the light of saving the educational sector, we hereby call all the executive Governors of the South South Region to implement this forthwith, So as to encourage proper funding of our educational sector.
- In the advocacy of saving our lives and the educational sector of the South South Region, NANS ZONE B call on all Nigerian students to participate massively in the forth coming elections, inorder to bring the true change we desire, As leadership of the zone we hereby urge all students to vote rightly and also elect candidates that have genuine love for Nigerian students and education revitalization.
