Nigerian Medical Association, Cross River Chapter partner with Government on Health outreach

NMA partners Cross River State Government in Community Health Outreach

In an effort to meet some of the less privileged members of the society and offer them unequivocal , dynamic and quality healthcare, the Cross River State Government has partnered with the Nigerian Medical Association , Cross River State Chapter in organizing a medical Outreach in Calabar, the Cross River State Capital.

The outreach which witnessed over 800 beneficiaries drawn across several wards in Calabar Municipal Area Council, is said to be a complimentary effort by all and sundry to improve the health and wellness of all categories of people including pregnant, nursing, aged and young people in the society.

Speaking to the beneficiaries, Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong said, the outreach is a show of love from members of the Nigerian Medical Association and the Government as they try to take healthcare to the possible reach of all and sundry.

She noted that, the team will engage in high profile medical services as the team made up of seasoned medical professionals were willing to thoroughly attend and meet the health needs of every beneficiary

She further reminded them of their daily responsibilities towards living and adopting a healthier lifestyle which she said will help improve the standard of their health and guaranteed longevity.

One of the representatives of the NMA Cross River State Chapter, Dr Echeng Imoke said the need to partner with the state government is to compliment the numerous efforts in reaching out to all citizens irrespective of where they are and their economic status.

He promised that the union will expand it\’s reach to other LGAs so as to cover substantial number of people in the coming weeks.

Some of the beneficiaries spoke to express their
appreciation to both the Government and the medical body as they said, the intervention was timely as they also advocated for its sustainability.

The event captured counselling session, testing, vaccination, surgical procedures, lab testing and treatment, eye test, sugar and blood level, diagnosis of different diseases and distribution of drugs.
The outreach is part of NMA services to the community as they mark their annual week.
