His death was announced by his family on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. His son, Olusoji Jacobs, confirmed the development in a social media post, while reports from Nigerian media outlets also confirmed the announcement.

He featured in more than 100 films and became widely recognised for portraying authoritative and respected characters, particularly kings, elders and other prominent figures.
Jacobs was also closely associated with theatre and worked alongside his wife, veteran actress Joke Silva, with whom he established the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts and the Lufodo Group.
