The campaign spokesman for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has threatened to institute a ₦10 billion legal action against the senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, over alleged defamation and injurious falsehood.
Olajengbesi, a lawyer and spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council, reportedly accused the senator of making statements he considered false and damaging to his reputation.
He warned that unless the alleged claims were addressed, he would seek legal redress and demand ₦10 billion in damages.
The development comes amid heightened political tension in Osun State ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, with supporters of the major political camps exchanging accusations over the conduct of the campaign.
Olajengbesi has been a prominent voice in Governor Adeleke’s campaign, regularly responding to allegations and criticisms directed at the governor and his administration. Recent reports have also linked him to statements concerning alleged political violence and campaign-related disputes in the state.
Senator Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East, has also been involved in the ongoing political contest in the state. Governor Adeleke previously included Fadahunsi among opposition figures he accused of contributing to political tensions in Osun, an allegation the opposition has rejected.
The latest threat of legal action adds another layer to the increasingly heated political exchanges ahead of Saturday’s election.
As of the time of filing this report, it was not immediately clear whether the ₦10 billion suit had been formally filed in court or whether Fadahunsi had responded to the threat.
