Poland Face Nigeria in International Friendly Clash Today

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on Poland today in an international friendly match as both nations continue preparations for future international competitions. The encounter will be played at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland, with kickoff scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Nigerian time.

Nigeria head into the match in high spirits following their recent Unity Cup triumph, where they defeated Jamaica 3-0 to retain the title. Under head coach Eric Chelle, the Super Eagles have shown signs of improvement and will be looking to extend their positive run against a strong European opponent.

The friendly offers an opportunity for both teams to assess their squads and build momentum for upcoming competitions after missing out on qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Poland will be aiming to bounce back from recent disappointing results, while Nigeria hope to continue their encouraging form.

Nigeria are expected to be without key forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, who were excused from the squad due to personal and fitness-related reasons. However, experienced players such as Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, and Calvin Bassey are expected to feature for the three-time African champions.

Poland, meanwhile, could rely on the experience of star striker Robert Lewandowski alongside Jakub Kiwior and Matty Cash as they seek to impress their home supporters.

The two nations have met only once before, with Nigeria securing a memorable 1-0 victory in a friendly match played in 2018, thanks to a Victor Moses penalty. The Super Eagles will be hoping to maintain that perfect record against the White and Reds.

Football fans across Nigeria and beyond will be closely watching what promises to be an exciting contest between two talented sides eager to make a statement on the international stage.
