Governor Ademola Adeleke has launched a free health insurance scheme for traditional rulers in Osun State, while announcing that his administration has rehabilitated more than 200 Primary Health Care (PHC) centres across the state.
The governor unveiled the initiative on Tuesday during the inauguration of the newly completed Osun Health Insurance Multipurpose Hall in Osogbo. The event also featured the symbolic presentation of health insurance identity cards to traditional rulers, officially flagging off their enrollment into the state’s health insurance programme.
Adeleke described the initiative as part of his administration’s commitment to expanding access to affordable and quality healthcare for all residents, including community leaders who play vital roles in grassroots development.
According to the governor, the rehabilitation of over 200 Primary Health Care Centres has significantly improved access to essential medical services in both urban and rural communities. He noted that the upgrades were aimed at strengthening primary healthcare delivery, reducing preventable diseases, and bringing healthcare closer to the people.
He added that the Osun Health Insurance Scheme would continue to expand coverage for vulnerable groups, ensuring that more residents can access medical care without suffering financial hardship.
Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure, increasing health insurance coverage, and delivering people-centred policies that enhance the well-being of citizens across the state.
