SA Nursing, Coco-Bassey Esu Visits General Hospital Ugep to Evaluate Patient Care

 

In a bid to improve healthcare delivery in Cross River State, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Nursing, Mr. Coco-Bassey Esu, embarked on a two-day working visit to General Hospital, Ugep. The purpose of the visit was to assess the quality of nursing care and evaluate the training standards of nurses at the facility.

During his visit, Mr. Coco-Bassey held productive engagements with healthcare professionals and the hospital management. He assured health workers that the recent lifting of the employment ban by the state government would ease the burden on existing staff and improve service delivery. He also noted that the administration of Governor Bassey Otu is actively addressing salary-related concerns, with the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Ajuk, leading negotiations with relevant health sector unions.

The Special Assistant emphasized the need for the hospital to rebuild patients’ trust by ensuring the newly recruited health workers uphold high standards of care. He also advocated for stronger collaboration between clinical instructors at the College of Nursing, Itigidi, and the hospital, to guarantee that nursing students receive contemporary, hands-on training.

In response, the Medical Superintendent, Dr. Ideba Enya, assured Mr. Coco-Bassey that the hospital remains committed to upholding best practices and maintaining a safe environment for both patients and staff. Similarly, the Head of Nursing Services, Mr. Nta Ubana, reaffirmed the hospital’s dedication to delivering optimal nursing care and quality student training.

To conclude the visit, the hospital’s management team conducted a guided tour of the facility, highlighting its strengths and ongoing improvements.
