The maiden edition of the Information, Press/PRO & Media Convergence (IPPM 1.0) has successfully concluded after five days of learning, networking, and collaboration among Student Union Government Directors of Information (DOIs), Press Secretaries, PROs, and Campus Media Teams across Cross River State.
The convergence featured practical sessions led by experienced media and communication professionals, covering strategic communication, crisis and digital public relations, content creation, mobile journalism, and media ethics. Participants were encouraged to use communication as a tool for leadership, accountability, and positive campus development.
To promote unity and teamwork, participants also took part in a novelty football match involving the Information and Press Team and host stakeholders. The event strengthened friendships and fostered collaboration beyond the classroom.
A meet-and-greet session provided an opportunity for student communicators from UNICAL, UNICROSS, and other tertiary institutions to exchange ideas, discuss common challenges, and build partnerships for future content collaboration.
The symposium workshop focused on hybrid engagement, effective publicity, media partnerships, and proper documentation of campus activities. Participants also agreed to strengthen collaboration through monthly engagements, step-down training on their campuses, and the creation of a shared media hub.
Speaking at the close of the programme, the Convener, Maduekwe Cynthia Chinenye (CyanahPEN), appreciated the speakers, facilitators, partners, and participants for contributing to the success of the maiden edition.
The convergence ended with one key message: Communication is Leadership.
