Nigeria’s Super Falcons will take on long-time rivals Ghana in an international friendly on Saturday in Casablanca as they intensify preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The friendly is expected to serve as the Falcons’ final test before the tournament kicks off, giving head coach Justine Madugu an opportunity to assess his squad and fine-tune tactics ahead of the continental showpiece.
The nine-time/record African champions opened their training camp in Casablanca on Monday, with players arriving in phases. By Tuesday afternoon, 10 players had joined the camp, while midfielder Toni Payne, who recently completed a move from Everton Women to Inter Milan Women, was expected to arrive on Wednesday.
The Super Falcons held their first training session under Madugu as preparations gathered pace for their opening Group C fixture against Malawi, scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, in Rabat.
Nigeria heads into the tournament as one of the favourites to reclaim the continental crown, boasting a rich history in the competition and a squad filled with experienced stars and emerging talents.
The clash against Ghana is expected to provide a strong test for the Falcons before they begin their quest for another WAFCON title in Morocco.
