The contesting bands’ 2023 Calabar Carnival band champions have been announced, and this comes after each band has showcased their creative choreography and vibrant costumes.
The costume for the 2023 Calabar Carnival was entirely new, with designs that were exceptionally distinctive to embody the theme of the 2023 Calabar Carnival: “season of sweetness.” No costume from a previous year of participation was repeated.
2023 calabar carnival consist of 5 competing bands which are; CalasVegas,Passion4,Freedom Band,Seagull Band and MastaBlasta.
In attendance where non competitive bands who came out so prepared with the best choreographic display and costumes. Non calabar carnival competing bands: Hitfm band,FAF band,Governor band and lots more.
After defeating five other bands including the crowd favorite, Passion 4, the Calas Vegas carnival band has won the 2023 Carnival Calabar.
For the first time since their founding, Calas Vegas emerged victorious in the early hours of Friday, December 29, 2023, inside the big bowl of Udokaha Jacob Esuene Stadium in Calabar.
Calas Vegas band managed by former Minister of Culture and Tourism, High Chief Edem Duke is one of the bands created last year alongside Diamond Band.
SEAGULL BAND POSITION 2023 CARNIVAL: Seagull Band came in third position for the calabar Carnival 2023
PASSION 4 POSITION for 2023 CARNIVAL: Passion 4, who had dominated the competition since 2006, took second place.
Other competing calabar carnival bands 2023 are Bayside, Master Blaster, Diamond, and Freedom Bands who performed and represented well during the calabar carnival 2023
