Lagos, Nigeria – A 15-year-old boy was recently apprehended by security operatives in Lagos after a firearm was discovered concealed inside a loaf of bread he was carrying, according to a viral video circulating on social media.
In the footage, the teenager claimed he had just returned from school when a friend approached him and handed over the loaf of bread. He said the friend asked him to deliver it to Oshodi bus terminal, where someone would collect it. The boy maintained he was unaware that a gun was hidden inside the bread.
The incident has sparked public concern over the use of minors in the transportation of illegal firearms and the creative methods criminals employ to evade detection. Similar cases of guns concealed in everyday items, including bread, have been reported in other states in recent months, highlighting ongoing challenges with arms proliferation.
As of the latest reports, the Lagos State Police Command has not issued an official statement confirming the arrest or providing further details on the investigation. The boy’s identity has not been publicly released due to his age, in line with protocols for handling juvenile suspects.
Authorities are expected to probe the source of the weapon, the involvement of the alleged friend, and any links to broader criminal networks. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
The case underscores the need for heightened awareness among parents and communities about the risks of youths being exploited by criminal elements. Further updates are anticipated as the matter develops.
