Naira Abuse: Cubana Chief Priest Pleads Not Guilty To 3-Count Charge and he has been granted a N10million bail.
Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has pleaded not guilty to the 3-count charge filed against him by the EFCC. The charges allege that he sprayed and tampered with the Naira at a social event, contrary to the Central Bank Act of 2007 provisions, specifically prohibiting the defacement or destruction of currency notes.
Following this plea, the Prosecution has requested the court to set a new date for the commencement of the trial.
The defendant\’s counsel has also filed a motion for bail pending the commencement of the trial.

They argued that the defendant has been on administrative bail and has not breached any condition. Additionally, they mentioned that the 3-count charge is categorised as a misdemeanor, carrying a penalty of not less than 6 months imprisonment or a fine of 50,000 naira, or both.
The defence counsel has requested a 14-day extension to complete the bail conditions due to the defendant\’s health condition and body size
