News just in: The trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, could face indefinite adjournment, as indicated by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court.
The judge\’s statement came after Kanu\’s lawyer, Alloy Ejimakor, argued that his client\’s right to a fair trial was being violated. Justice Nyako expressed her intention to resume proceedings once the defense was prepared.
Ejimakor raised concerns about Kanu\’s lack of adequate preparation due to the accelerated hearing schedule and alleged improper facilities at his holding location, including hidden cameras. The prosecution, represented by Awomolo, opposed the defense\’s application, citing insufficient reasons.
Justice Nyako adjourned the proceedings until May 20 to review both applications and instructed the prosecution to commence the trial.
Additionally, she paused the session for ten minutes to allow the defense to confer with Kanu.
