The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South East), Barr. Chioma Nweze, has called on students across the South East geopolitical zone to take advantage of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) by applying for the education loan scheme.
Barr. Nweze made the appeal during a routine inspection tour of ongoing federal road projects in the South East alongside the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, where she also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to infrastructure development across the country, particularly in the South East.
Call for Increased NELFUND Applications
According to Barr. Nweze, the Managing Director of NELFUND recently informed her that applications from students in the South East remain relatively low.
She encouraged eligible students in the region to embrace the opportunity, emphasizing that every part of Nigeria should benefit equally from the Federal Government’s educational support initiatives.
“What is beneficial to one region of the country should equally benefit every other region,” she stated.
Commends Tinubu’s Education and Infrastructure Policies
Barr. Nweze also praised President Tinubu’s administration for maintaining stability in Nigeria’s tertiary education system, noting that students have enjoyed uninterrupted academic sessions without the prolonged strikes that previously affected universities.
She described the development as a positive step toward improving the nation’s education sector and creating a more conducive learning environment for students.
South East Inclusion in National Development
The presidential aide further appreciated President Tinubu for what she described as deliberate efforts to include the South East in national development through key appointments and ongoing federal infrastructure projects.
Echoing the position earlier expressed by the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, she stated that the people of the South East would reciprocate the President’s goodwill with strong political support in the 2027 general elections.
Barr. Nweze reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding access to education and improving infrastructure, urging South East students not to miss the opportunity provided through the NELFUND scheme.
