Akamkpa and Biase Federal Constituency Backs Gov. Bassey Otu for Second Term

The people of Akamkpa and Biase Federal Constituency/Local Government Areas have pledged their full support for Governor Bassey Otu and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, endorsing them for a second term in office.

The resounding endorsement came during a solidarity rally held on Thursday at the Akamkpa Local Government Council Secretariat. The event drew an impressive turnout of political stakeholders, party leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth and women groups, students, and grassroots supporters from across the federal constituency.

Stakeholders praised Governor Otu’s impactful leadership and developmental strides over the past two years, citing achievements in infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment. They described his administration as laying a solid foundation for Cross River State’s sustainable progress.

A motion for a vote of confidence and endorsement was moved by Barr. Uno Ogban and seconded by Hon. Angelica Bassey. It received unanimous approval, with additional backing from Hon. Matthew Olory and Hon. Susan Ukpai, and was met with thunderous applause.

In his remarks, Rt. Hon. George O’ben-Etchi, Chairman/CEO of the Cross River State Forestry Commission, described Governor Otu as “a symbol of stability and progress,” stating that his leadership has brought visible transformation across Akamkpa, Biase, and the wider state.

Hon. Ijom-Odum Ukam, Commissioner for Youth Development and Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, commended the Governor’s inclusive governance, especially youth-centered policies. “This is the first time in years that we feel heard and represented,” he said.

Chairmen of Akamkpa and Biase LGAs, State House of Assembly members representing Biase and Akamkpa I & II, commissioners, the APC Vice Chairman (South), Hon. (Mrs) Tity Ndifon, traditional rulers, student leaders, and youth representatives all took turns praising Governor Otu’s leadership and called for continuity in office.

Responding on behalf of the Governor, Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey expressed deep gratitude for the endorsement. “This show of trust means everything to us. Governor Otu and I remain fully committed to ensuring the growth and development of every community in our state,” he stated.

Also in attendance were Hon. Pius Ankpo, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure (representing the Deputy Governor), royal fathers, women leaders, APC executives, youth bodies, students, and numerous party faithful.
