Meet Former President Jonathan’s Second Wife, Mother of His Two Sons, Who Recently Earned a Doctorate Degree
In a revelation unknown to many Nigerians, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is said to have a second wife, Dr. Mrs. Lott Jonathan, aside from his widely known spouse, Dame Patience Ibifaka Jonathan (née Oba)
Dr. Lott Jonathan, fondly referred to as Mrs. Lott J, is reportedly a central but discreet part of Jonathan’s private life. Beyond being his alleged second wife, she is also the mother of his two sons. Her relationship with the former President has remained largely private and outside the public glare.
A law graduate from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), Lott J is the daughter of Chief F.D. Lott, a respected lawyer and former Attorney-General of Bayelsa State. She also shares close family ties with Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum, with whom she reportedly has a strong sister-like bond. Chief Lott also serves on the Governing Council of Niger Delta University.
Sources allege that Lott J and Jonathan were married even before his entry into politics. However, her role in his life reportedly became more complicated following his rise in public office. Tensions were said to have arisen between her and Patience Jonathan, particularly when Lott J attempted to assert her place using her children as leverage. This led to her eventual relocation to the United States, along with her two sons, when Jonathan became Governor of Bayelsa State.
Following Jonathan’s ascent to the presidency, Lott J is said to have returned to Nigeria and settled in Maitama, Abuja. She now lives in a well-guarded residence and, according to insiders, receives private visits from Jonathan reportedly every Sunday.
Recently, Dr. Lott Jonathan achieved an academic milestone by earning a Doctorate Degree in Education. Known for her calm and reserved nature, she is also an entrepreneur and educator, owning the prestigious Aduvie Montessori International School, located off Blantyre Street, Maitama considered one of the top private schools in the Federal Capital Territory.
