Members of the Deejays Association of Nigeria, Cross River State Chapter, have celebrated the 2026 edition of World DJs Day with activities in the capital city of Calabar.
The event was coordinated by the state chairman of the association, Emmanuel Edet, popularly known as DJ Baffup. According to the organizers, registered members of the association gathered to commemorate the annual celebration and highlight the importance of DJs in the entertainment industry.
Activities marking the celebration began with a novelty football match between Djs and Comedians which ended In 1:1 draw on Friday 6th March, a thanksgiving session before members proceeded to the main event, which featured a rally across parts of Calabar. The rally was aimed at informing the public about the presence and unity of the Deejays Association in the state, as well as celebrating the contributions of DJs to entertainment and cultural life in Cross River.
The rally witnessed the participation of several prominent DJs in the state who are registered members of the association.
During the celebration, the Cross River State chapter of the Deejays Association also announced its endorsement of the Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Edet Otu, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to members of the association, their decision to support the governor was based on what they described as the administration’s recognition and appreciation of their services, as well as the renewed value given to their craft in recent times.
Other executives of the association present at the rally included Asuquo Umo Inyang, popularly known as DJ Slims, and the Secretary of the association, Asuquo Inameti, also known as DJ Cyrilsmith, the director of social, Charles Paulinus(DJ Politan) alongside many other members who participated in the celebration.
