One Dead, 10 Rescued as Three-Storey Shopping Complex Collapses in Lagos

One person has been confirmed dead and 10 others rescued after a three-storey shopping complex collapsed in the Alakija area of Lagos State on Thursday, with an unspecified number of people still feared trapped beneath the rubble.

The incident occurred at about 11:40 a.m. on Old Ojo Road, near Alakija Bus Stop, off the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in Satellite Town, sparking a large-scale emergency response.

Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), alongside other emergency responders, swiftly arrived at the scene and commenced intensive search-and-rescue operations to locate and evacuate victims trapped under the debris.

Emergency officials said rescue efforts are ongoing, while the exact cause of the building collapse has yet to be determined. Authorities are expected to provide further updates as the operation continues.
