The Forum of Students’ Union Government (SUG) Directors of Information across tertiary institutions in Cross River State has paid a courtesy visit to key government officials ahead of the maiden edition of the Information, Press/PRO & Media Convergence Week 2026.
The delegation was received by the Cross River State Commissioners for Information, Youth Development, and Education, alongside the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development.
The officials commended the initiative, describing it as a timely platform that will promote ethical journalism, responsible communication, and collaboration among student information managers. They urged participants to uphold truth, credibility, and professionalism while embracing innovation and the responsible use of digital media.
The visit also served as the official presentation of the forthcoming Information, Press/PRO & Media Convergence Week 2026, scheduled for the end of July and hosted by Cynthia Maduekwe (CyanahPEN).
With the theme “One Voice, Every Platform” and sub-theme “Shaping Narratives On & Offline: From Campus Press to Global Trends,” the event will bring together student information officers, public relations practitioners, campus journalists, media professionals, and communication experts from within and beyond Cross River State.
Participants will engage in workshops and discussions on ethical reporting, fact-checking, artificial intelligence in media, public relations, digital storytelling, content creation, leadership, branding, and emerging media trends.
Organisers said the convergence is designed to equip student communicators with practical skills, encourage responsible storytelling, and strengthen campus journalism through collaboration, innovation, and professional development.
