The Delta State Government has directed security agencies to immediately identify, arrest, and prosecute those allegedly involved in the violent attack on one of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s protocol aides, Simon Mudi, popularly known as Temple.
The incident occurred during the Delta Central All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement signed on Tuesday and made available to journalists on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, described the attack as unacceptable and a serious threat to public peace and security.
Aniagwu said the state government would not tolerate acts of violence capable of disrupting public order or endangering the lives of citizens, stressing that those responsible must face the full weight of the law.
He assured residents that security agencies had been directed to track down everyone connected to the assault, adding that justice would be served.
The commissioner also urged political actors and supporters to conduct their activities peacefully and avoid actions capable of inciting violence or undermining the state’s peaceful atmosphere.
The Delta State Government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while maintaining law and order across the state.
