The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Offiong Efanga Offiong, has approved the appointment of Prof. Ikutal Ajigo as the new Head of the Department of Agricultural Education, Faculty of Vocational and Entrepreneurial Education.
The appointment was conveyed in an official letter signed by the Vice-Chancellor. It takes effect from August 1, 2026, and will run for an initial term of three years, ending on July 31, 2029.
According to the letter, Prof. Ajigo is expected to leverage his academic and administrative experience to provide effective leadership for the department, promote academic excellence, and enhance its overall growth and development.
The Vice-Chancellor also charged the new Head of Department to align with the vision and mission of the current university administration while upholding the core values, standards, and reputation of the University of Calabar in the discharge of his responsibilities.
In addition, all relevant units of the university have been directed to extend to Prof. Ajigo the necessary support and official courtesies associated with his new office to ensure a smooth transition.
The outgoing Head of the Department has also been instructed to carry out a proper handover of all official documents, records, and responsibilities in line with the university’s administrative procedures.
The appointment reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening academic leadership and ensuring effective administration across its faculties and departments.
