A fresh disagreement has emerged within the aviation sector as the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) chapter of the National Association of Air Traffic Engineers (NAAE) publicly rejected comments made by the association’s national leadership on the proposed review of the Ticket Sales Charge (TSC) sharing formula.
In a communiqué issued on Thursday and signed by the Chairman of the NCAA chapter, Agunloye Fredrick, the chapter stated that it was neither consulted nor carried along before the National President of the association made public comments on the matter.
According to the communiqué, the views attributed to the NAAE National President in recent media reports do not represent the position of members of the NCAA chapter.
“The attention of the NCAA Chapter of the National Association of Air Traffic Engineers (NAAE) has been drawn to recent media publications credited to the National President of NAAE regarding the proposed review of the Ticket Sales Charge (TSC) sharing formula,” the statement read.
The chapter stressed that it remains committed to due process and internal consultation on issues affecting the aviation industry, adding that any position presented as that of the association should reflect the collective opinion of all relevant stakeholders.
The development highlights growing divisions within the association over the proposed review of the Ticket Sales Charge sharing formula, a policy expected to influence how aviation agencies receive funding from ticket sales.
Industry observers believe the disagreement could further intensify discussions surrounding the planned review, with stakeholders expected to push for broader consultations before any final decision is reached.
The Ticket Sales Charge is a statutory levy collected from airline passengers and shared among key aviation agencies to support regulatory oversight, air navigation services, airport operations and other critical functions within Nigeria’s aviation industry.
