The Federal Government has commenced the distribution of starter packs to 18,510 Nigerians trained under the first batch of the Renewed Hope Vocational and Skills Training Programme.
The initiative, implemented by the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), is designed to help beneficiaries turn the skills acquired during training into sustainable businesses and sources of income.
The beneficiaries were selected from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). They underwent two weeks of intensive vocational and skills training at more than 230 accredited training centres across the country.
Following the completion of the training, the government began providing the beneficiaries with starter packs containing relevant tools and equipment to enable them to put their newly acquired skills into practice.
The programme covers various vocational and entrepreneurial skills aimed at improving employability, encouraging self-reliance and reducing unemployment among Nigerians.
The distribution is part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to strengthen social investment programmes and create economic opportunities for vulnerable and unemployed citizens.
Officials said the support would enable beneficiaries to establish small businesses, improve their livelihoods and potentially create employment opportunities for others within their communities.
The Renewed Hope Vocational and Skills Training Programme is expected to complement other government interventions focused on poverty reduction, skills development and economic empowerment.
With the distribution of the starter packs now underway, beneficiaries are expected to begin applying the skills acquired during the training to generate income and build sustainable livelihoods.
