Two Suspects Arrested as Ogun Police Uncover More Clues

Written by Mary Bassey

Operatives of the Anti-Robbery Team of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate and recovered three locally made pistols and 18 live cartridges from them.

The suspects, identified as 46-year-old Adeyinka Onakomaya and 48-year-old Olayiwola Kehinde, were arrested during a follow-up investigation into the recovery of a stolen red Toyota Matrix allegedly linked to an armed robbery incident in April 2026.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday.

According to Babaseyi, the arrests were achieved through “relentless operational follow-ups and sustained tactical intelligence” by the Anti-Robbery Team after the stolen vehicle was recovered.

He said the investigation led operatives to the two suspects, who were subsequently arrested in connection with the alleged robbery network.

During the operation, police recovered three locally manufactured pistols and 18 live cartridges allegedly in the suspects’ possession.

The command said the development was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and prevent armed robbery activities across Ogun State.

Police authorities said investigation into the case is ongoing, while efforts are being made to uncover other members of the alleged syndicate and establish their involvement in related criminal activities.

The command also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with useful information that could assist in the fight against crime.
