Katsina Governor Unveils New Plan to Drive State Development

Written by Mary Bassey

Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Umar Radda, has unveiled a data-driven development framework aimed at improving planning, budgeting and the implementation of government programmes across the state.

The governor said his administration would increasingly rely on credible statistics and evidence to guide decisions and ensure that government interventions effectively address the needs of residents.

Radda made the declaration on Thursday in Katsina during the official launch of several key development and policy documents produced through the state Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and the Katsina State Bureau of Statistics.

The documents unveiled include the Katsina State Development Plan, State Social Protection Policy, Multi-Sectoral Strategic Plan of Action for Food and Nutrition, State Nutrition Policy, General Household Survey Report and the State Statistical Yearbook.

Represented at the event by his deputy, Faruk Jobe, the governor described the documents as more than policy publications, saying they would serve as practical tools for shaping the state’s development priorities and improving the living conditions of its people.

He said the use of reliable data would help government identify critical areas of need, allocate resources more effectively and measure the impact of its policies and programmes.

According to him, evidence-based planning would also strengthen accountability and enable the government to make informed decisions on issues affecting different sectors of the state.

The governor stressed that the development plan and related policies were designed to provide a clearer direction for sustainable growth while addressing social protection, food security, nutrition and other areas of public welfare.

The launch marks another step by the Katsina State Government towards strengthening its statistical and planning systems as it works to align public spending with measurable development outcomes.
