The Special Envoy to West Africa for the International Human Rights Protection Service, Dr. Charles Omini, has vowed that no amount of bribery will shield government officials accused of looting public funds across the West African region.
Omini made the declaration in Abuja shortly after a meeting with the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), where he reaffirmed his organisation’s commitment to supporting the fight against corruption.
According to him, the working partnership between the International Human Rights Protection Service and the EFCC over the past two years has yielded significant results in the collective effort to combat corruption.
Omini commended the leadership of the EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for what he described as strategic efforts to tackle corruption and promote accountability in Nigeria.
He stressed that corruption must be confronted at every level, noting that public officials entrusted with managing government resources must be held accountable for their actions.
Both agencies, according to Omini, have expressed their commitment to strengthening their strategic approach towards reducing corruption and improving transparency in the country.
He further assured that the partnership would continue to support efforts aimed at protecting public resources and ensuring that individuals who abuse their positions of authority are made to face the consequences of their actions.
