The Nigeria Police Force has presented insurance benefit cheques totalling ₦9.797 million to families and beneficiaries of police officers who died in the line of duty in Ekiti State.
The cheques were presented by the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Michael Falade, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.
According to a statement made available in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, Falade said the payment demonstrated the police authorities’ commitment to the welfare of personnel and the families they leave behind.
The commissioner described the gesture as a practical expression of the Nigeria Police Force’s appreciation for officers who lost their lives while carrying out their duties.
He said the insurance benefits were intended to provide support to the families and beneficiaries of the deceased officers following their sacrifices in the service of the country.
Falade also emphasised the importance of recognising the contributions of police personnel who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
The presentation forms part of efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to fulfil its welfare obligations to the families of officers who died while serving the nation.
The beneficiaries received the cheques in recognition of the insurance entitlements attached to the service of the deceased officers.
