Justus Kelley, the 31-year-old Miss Virginia USA, has made history after becoming the first married mother to win the Miss USA title.
Kelley was crowned at the 75th annual Miss USA pageant, marking a significant moment in the history of the long-running competition.
The new Miss USA balanced her pageant preparations with her responsibilities as a mother, adapting her training schedule around her children.
She revealed that her children’s nap times became opportunities for practice, while her workouts often took place late at night after she had completed their baths and bedtime routines.
Her determination paid off as she emerged as the national winner and secured a prize package reportedly valued at more than $685,000. The package includes a $150,000 salary and a Range Rover.
Kelley’s reaction to the vehicle offer reflected her priorities as a mother. After learning that she would receive a Range Rover, she reportedly asked, “Does it fit car seats?”
Her historic victory comes as pageantry continues to evolve, with Kelley’s achievement highlighting that marriage and motherhood do not prevent women from pursuing major personal and professional goals.
As Miss USA, Kelley will spend the next year representing the Miss USA organisation while carrying out various official duties and promoting her platform.
