Newly admitted students of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) have been advised to follow the approved registration process carefully after receiving their admission to avoid delays and complications.
The registration process involves several stages, from accepting the admission and printing the necessary documents to completing online screening, paying school fees and registering courses.
Steps for UNICAL Freshers After Admission
1. Accept your admission
Once your admission is released, log in to the appropriate admission platform and formally accept the offer.
2. Print your provisional admission letter
After accepting the admission, print your provisional admission letter and keep it safely.
3. Generate your Admission Checkers PIN
After about one week, log in to the official UNICAL portal and generate your Admission Checkers PIN.
4. Obtain and use the Checkers PIN
Pay the required fee for the Checkers PIN and use it to access and print your official UNICAL admission letter.
5. Pay the Acceptance Fee
Proceed to pay the prescribed acceptance fee through the approved university payment channel.
6. Complete the Online Screening
After making the acceptance fee payment, print your payment receipt and proceed with the online screening process.
7. Verify your O’Level result
Freshers are required to verify their O’Level results on the UNICAL portal. The applicable verification fee must be paid, and the verification is required for completion of the online screening process.
8. Print your Online Screening Clearance
After successfully completing the screening process, print your screening clearance and keep it with your other admission documents.
Documents Required for Online Screening
Freshers should have the following documents available:
– Admission Letter
– Recent passport photograph
– Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age
– Certificate of State of Origin
– O’Level Result
9. Gain access to the UNICAL Student Portal
After completing the required screening and clearance procedures, students will be granted access to the official UNICAL Student Portal.
10. Pay your school fees
Proceed to pay the prescribed school fees through the university’s approved payment channels.
11. Verify your fee payments
Print your school fees receipt and take it, together with your Acceptance Fee receipt, to the designated Fees Verification Office for verification.
12. Register your courses
After successful verification, log in to the student portal and complete your course registration.
13. Attend lectures and prepare for matriculation
Freshers should begin attending lectures as scheduled and await the official announcement of the matriculation ceremony.
Other Mandatory Registrations for Freshers
Freshers who have successfully paid their school fees and completed the required verification are also expected to register for the following services using their verified school fees receipt as evidence of payment:
– Electronic ID Card (IDID Card): Registration is free and should be completed at the designated venue.
– UNICAL Medical Centre: Registration provides access to the university’s medical services and medical card.
– e-Library Facility: Students should register to access the university’s digital learning resources.
– Directorate of Sports: Freshers are expected to register at the Stadium/Directorate of Sports to access sporting facilities and activities.
New students are advised to keep their original documents, payment receipts, clearance documents and other registration materials safely, as they may be required at different stages of the admission and registration process.
Freshers should also rely on official communication from the University of Calabar and authorised university channels for any changes to fees, procedures, deadlines or registration requirements, as such details may be updated by the institution.
