UNICAL Management Backs Students Promoting Good Values

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Offiong Efanga Offiong, has expressed the university’s support for students who are committed to promoting good morals and living responsible lives.

The Vice-Chancellor made this known when members of the Joint Christian Campus Fellowship (JCCF), University of Calabar, paid a courtesy visit to the university management.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Anthony Afam Okiwelu, Prof. Offiong commended the fellowship for its efforts to encourage positive values and responsible conduct among students.

He said the university was proud to associate with students who were committed to living Christ-like lives and contributing positively to the campus community.

The Vice-Chancellor also reaffirmed Management’s commitment to ensuring that students complete their academic programmes within the stipulated period.

He warned against cultism, examination malpractice, grade sorting and other forms of academic misconduct, urging the fellowship to continue sensitising students on the dangers of such practices.

Prof. Offiong assured the JCCF of Management’s support and encouraged its members to remain steadfast in promoting good morals, academic integrity and responsible behaviour among students.

Earlier, the President of JCCF, Mr. Etan Mark Obun, said the visit was to appreciate the university management, identify with its leadership, seek guidance and solicit continued support for the fellowship.

Obun also raised some concerns affecting the organisation and appealed to Management to involve members of the fellowship in solemn assemblies and student orientation programmes.

According to him, such involvement would allow the fellowship to contribute to the mentoring of newly admitted students and help guide them away from negative influences as they begin their university journey.
