President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s decision to end fuel subsidy, insisting that Nigeria will never return to the policy.
The President made this known while addressing an audience at an event, where he maintained that reversing the subsidy removal would require a change in the country’s political leadership.
Tinubu referenced state governors, the Senate President and lawmakers while stressing his determination to sustain the decision.
“ Nigeria will never go back to subsidy, unless there’s no uncommon governor, unless there’s no uncommon Senate President, unless there’s no lawmaking again,” the President said.
He also drew attention to the audience’s reaction during his remarks, asking, “Look at these people. You want to laugh?”
The President’s comments further reinforced his administration’s position that the removal of fuel subsidy remains a key part of its economic policy, despite continued public concerns over the rising cost of living and fuel prices.
