Adamu Ibrahim Umaru impregnates his teenage daughter in Cross River State.
Mallam Adamu Ibrahim Umaru, a 48 years old native of Bundugudu LGA of Zamfara State, has been arrested.
He is undergoing persecution for allegedly impregnating his own 15 years old teenage daughter, Amina.
Although he is a native of Bundugudu LGA of Zamfara State, but he is currently residing at No. 27 Edem Odo Street, Calabar, has been arrested.
Police personnel of the Zone Six Human Rights Unit who acted on a petition referred to the team for investigation, arrested Mallam Adamu Ibrahim on Friday, the 15th of November, 2024.
Mr. Adamu Ibrahim however denied committing the crime when interviewed by media correspondents.
Still, He could not explain how his daughter got pregnant under his watch having separated from her biological mother years back.
POLICE INVESTIGATION
The police was notified of the alleged crime following a petition by the victim’s aunt, Mrs Aisha.
Mr Adamu who is also facing an attempted murder case in Abuja, has been paraded by the Zone 6 Police Command in Cross River state.
The aunt stated that she noticed the changes in the girl’s physiology and took her to the hospital.
A pregnancy test was conducted and the result confirmed the 15 years old to be nine weeks pregnant.
The victim accused her father of being responsible for her pregnancy.
Claiming her father started having illicit affairs with her in 2023 in a hotel.
And that he threatened to kill her if she disclosed it to anyone.
Due to the petition, the police further examined the victim in the Police hospital, Calabar.
The Pregnancy test result validated the earlier one submitted by her aunt.
Reacting to the allegation Against Mr Umaru.
The Manager of Last Motor hotel, admitted that he had seen Mr. Adamu Ibrahim several times.
He usually comes with the victim in the hotel come to book temporary accommodation.
He however stated that he never knew she was his daughter.
POLICE ACTION ON THE CASE.
A statement issued by the Zone Six Police PRO, SP Nelson Okpabi, assured justice.
He stated the suspect will be arraigned in a court at the end of ongoing Investigation in accordance with extant laws if found culpable.
The police advised parents, guardians and caregivers to monitor the movements of their wards.
Encouraging them to be wary of pedophiles and social deviants.
He also encouraged those in the hospitality industry to adequately profile customers.
And also report suspected persons who indulge in illicit activities to the police for prompt action.
