The Chairman of Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State, Hon. Edodi Eyong Edodi, has launched a business empowerment scheme aimed at helping residents establish and strengthen small businesses.
The initiative, unveiled recently in Biase, focuses on providing essential business equipment to selected beneficiaries across the local government area. It forms part of broader efforts to stimulate grassroots economic growth, reduce unemployment, and support entrepreneurship among residents.
According to details of the scheme, recipients will receive tools and equipment tailored to various small-scale enterprises, including trading, service-based businesses, and light production activities common in the community.
The goal is to enable beneficiaries to start new businesses or expand existing ones by reducing startup costs and improving their operational capacity.
Hon. Edodi emphasized that the programme is designed to promote sustainable livelihoods. By providing practical resources rather than one-off cash support, the local government aims to encourage self-reliance and strengthen the economic resilience of residents.
