Residents of Iwuru Obio Ntan in Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State have raised concerns over an alleged case of sexual abuse involving a 15-year-old girl and her father.
According to information obtained from community sources, the teenager reportedly disclosed that she had been subjected to repeated sexual abuse by her father after returning to Cross River State to live with him.
Community Takes Action Over Allegation
The girl reportedly confided in people within her compound about the alleged abuse after initially keeping silent out of fear.
Community members subsequently advised her to report the matter to her father’s age-grade group, where she reportedly presented information supporting her allegations.
The father was subsequently summoned to the village square and questioned about the allegations. He reportedly initially denied the accusations but later acknowledged them, according to the community sources.
The allegations were also reportedly taken for medical assessment, although details of any medical findings have not been independently verified.
Case Reported to Security Authorities
Following the community intervention, the suspect was reportedly taken before the village head, who directed that the matter be reported to the Police for further investigation and legal action.
The man was subsequently taken to security personnel in the area, who are reportedly following up on the case.
The community has expressed its determination to ensure that the matter is properly investigated and that the teenager receives appropriate protection and support.

The alleged case has generated concern among residents, with calls for relevant authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation while prioritising the safety and welfare of the minor.
