A 29-year-old relative of Prince Albert II of Monaco, Antoine de Massy, has been found dead following a night out, while a 42-year-old Ukrainian man has been charged in connection with his death.
De Massy’s body was discovered on Sunday, October 25, 2026, in a park in Monaco’s Larvotto district after his family reportedly became concerned when he failed to attend a scheduled family lunch.
According to reports, the 29-year-old was seen leaving a nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning, reportedly appearing unsteady and receiving support from another man.
An autopsy reportedly indicated that he may have died following a fall from a height of approximately 13 metres.
Monaco authorities subsequently arrested a 42-year-old Ukrainian national who has reportedly lived in the principality for about 30 years.
The suspect has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and failure to assist a person in danger. He reportedly denied the allegations during police questioning and declined to answer questions before the investigating judge. He has been remanded in custody.
Monaco’s Prosecutor General, Stéphane Thibault, said investigators are working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding De Massy’s death. Authorities have also stressed that the possibility of an accident has not been ruled out.
De Massy was the grandson of Princess Antoinette, the elder sister of the late Prince Rainier III and aunt of Prince Albert II.
Following his death, Prince Albert II and his wife, Princess Charlene, expressed their sadness and extended condolences to his family and loved ones.
The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect has not been convicted of any offence.
