C\’River, UNICEF Country Program Holds 2022 Annual Reviews, Commence 2023/24 Workplan Devt

Cross River State Ministry of International Development Cooperation (MIDC) and the United Nations Children\’s Fund (UNICEF) country program has concluded a 2-Day year-end review and debriefing session and commenced the 2023/24 aerial workplan development in the state.

The session is one of several end-of-year reviews between the MIDC and partners for presentations and discussions of progress report to achieving outputs and outcomes, including constraints, deliberating actions aimed at promoting best practices; sectoral presentation and key interventions and priority indices.

In an address, Commissioner for International Development Cooperation, Dr. Inyang Asibong, expressed deep satisfaction at the 2022 annual reports, harping on the significance of identifying loopholes and ameliorating constraints in the coming year.

Asibong assured of the continuous support of the state government as well as other relevant stakeholders involved.
The MIDC Commissioner placed specific attention on the trends of women and children in the state and best ways to implement the 2023-24 workplan development in the next circle year.

According to the UNICEF Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, Mrs Maureen Okolo, the review is special because it is a built-in of the four years United Nations Sustainable Development Partnership Framework (UNSDPF) 2018-2022 program cycle.

Okolo sighted some of the significance to include fulfillment of the commitment given in the 2022 aerial workplan development of the country program and defining key recommendations to accelerate results for the 2023/24 women and children workplan development.

The briefing had the Chief of Field Office Enugu State Juliet Chiluwe, the State Economic Adviser/VC State Planning Commission, Dr Francis Ntamu, UNICEF Country Program Staff, stakeholders of concerned MDAs and top government functionaries and representatives of CSOs in attendance.
