CROSIEC Chairman, Ekong Boco Assures payment of SALARIES To Staff; Announces months to Start Payment

The Chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC), Dr. Ekong Boco, has assured staff of the commission that their outstanding salaries will be paid soon, following the approval by Governor Bassey Otu.

Dr. Boco made this clarification while reacting to a viral report that falsely claimed staff salaries had not been paid due to a server failure caused by rats. The chairman dismissed the claim as “baseless and misleading,” stating that CROSIEC neither owns a server nor is responsible for salary disbursement.

The Chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC), Dr. Ekong Boko, has assured staff of the commission that their outstanding salaries will be paid soon, following the approval by Governor Bassey Otu.

“The commission does not pay salaries. We receive salaries like every other state government employee. The Accountant General’s office is responsible for processing payments, and they are already working on it,” Dr. Ekong Boco explained.

He acknowledged that 82 new staff members recruited before the last local government election had experienced salary delays but assured them that the issue was being resolved. “His Excellency has graciously approved their payment, and they will receive their salaries this March,” he said.

The chairman also addressed concerns over staff agitation, emphasizing that civil servants should follow due process in seeking redress rather than resorting to social media misinformation. He urged journalists to verify their reports before publication to avoid misleading the public.
