CRUTECH Student Shines in National Competition for Engineering Students

Amidst all the gloom and despair that was pervasive during the industrial strike action by Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Abigail Wogor, a student of the Department of Civil Engineering, CRUTECH, has brought good news and glory to the university.

Despite the academic rustiness that accompanied the strike action and the short notice that preceded the competition, she went all the way to Lagos and came 4th in the NIgerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) Eco-friendly Engineering Innovation Challenge for students edition 2.

Her award winning topic is “ Lignin an Eco-Friendly Alternative for binder in Asphalt production”.
According to Engr. Dr. Anderson Etika, Head of Department of Civil Engineering, Abigail’s topic is not her undergraduate project topic.
He explained that rather, it is borne out of her desire for research.
Engr. Dr. Etika added that “this is the spirit we have been yearning for. It is a great way to go.”

We also extend our congratulations to the Head of Department of Civil Engineering, Engr. Dr. Anderson Etika and all staff of the department for grooming Abigail to achieve that brilliant feat.
