Dr. Inyang Asibong event held annually every New Year Day which drew a sizable crowd as the Efik community\’s history and heritage were vibrantly celebrated. Several ethnic groups from the Southern Senatorial District showcased their own customs through vibrant costumes and apparel, upbeat dances, and heartfelt music throughout the celebration, which went late into the night.
The air buzzed with excitement as the various groups took turns at the center stage, their movements infused with the stories and rhythms of their ancestors. Young and old alike swayed to the infectious beats of the ekpe drums, while children marveled at the intricate beadwork and feather adornments adorning the dancers\’ bodies.
Speaking to the crowd, Dr. Asibong urged them to continue supporting His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu, and his beloved wife, Her Excellency, Rev. Eyoanwan Otu, while also committing to being good ambassadors of their respective communities and preserving the rich culture of the South.
