The Permanent Secretary of the Cross River State Ministry of Health Dr. Iwara Iwara has called on Nurses to continue to give in their best for the State as the lives and healthy welfare of all cross riverians rest on their shoulders by virtue of the demands of their profession.
An Occasion celebrated Internationally in recognition of the contribution of the Mother of Modern Nursing- Florence Nightingale and indeed the nurses and midwives of this generation (very particularly those in Cross River State) for their unquantifiable contributions in health care delivery and promotion of excellence in nursing education. Thus the theme of this year\’s celebration is; \”NURSES A VOICE A LEAD: INVEST IN NURSING AND RESPECT RIGHTS TO SECURE GLOBAL HEALTH.\”
Dr. Iwara stated this during the ongoing Nurses Week in the State as the Nurses during their Rally made a stop at the Ministry\’s headquarters to show their respect and to brief the permanent secretary on the progress so far. Both the Nurses and the students who are practicing Nursing as well as the Exco of the NANNM association were all part of the exercise.
\”Today I see a generational Nurses as the Ministry of Health is so very proud to have you here today. Am quite happy to have all the nurses in CRS both the students and the NANNM leadership, other profession are trying so hard to emulate your good works and professionalism as you\’ve always proven to be outstanding and dedicated in your job.
\”As you celebrate this week with lofty activities, I\’ll wish to use this medium to charge you all to continue to give in your best and live up to the standard especially as the lives of our people depends on your good works, nursing is a noble profession that requires more care, attention, and commitment, you\’ve been trained in all areas as such your experience and expertise is never in doubt.\”
The health boss ended by wishing the nurses a successful week ahead reassuring them of the Ministry\’s support and synergy. To mark this year\’s nurses week, the CRS nurses has lined up wonderful programme of activities full with educational activities amongst others. The nurses week celebration started with a Nurses float from 11-11 roundabout through Mary slessor, Marian road, IBB and ended at the CRSMOH headquarters.
