The Federal Government has strongly condemned the latest killings of two Nigerians in South Africa, accusing some South African security operatives of failing to protect foreign nationals and alleging possible complicity in the recurring attacks.
The government described the incidents as deeply disturbing and unacceptable, warning that the continued loss of Nigerian lives could compel Nigeria to review its diplomatic engagement with South Africa if urgent and decisive measures are not taken to end the violence.
According to the Federal Government, the deaths of the two Nigerians are part of a troubling pattern of attacks involving Nigerian citizens and other African migrants living in South Africa. It noted that repeated incidents of violence, coupled with what it described as inadequate responses from security agencies, have continued to fuel concerns over the safety of Nigerians residing in the country.
The government called on the South African authorities to launch a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the latest killings, identify and prosecute those responsible, and strengthen measures to guarantee the safety of all foreign nationals, including Nigerians.
It also urged the South African government to ensure that law enforcement agencies carry out their duties professionally and without bias, stressing that every individual, regardless of nationality, deserves equal protection under the law.

The Federal Government reiterated its commitment to protecting Nigerians wherever they reside and assured citizens that it would continue to engage South African authorities through diplomatic channels to seek justice for the victims and prevent further attacks. It added, however, that Nigeria would not hesitate to consider stronger diplomatic measures should the killings continue without meaningful action from the South African government.
