The Cross River State Government has officially released the names of successful applicants for the first batch of its Youth Skills Acquisition Programme and the one-year Prince Otu Pre-Degree Scholarship Programme, marking another step in its drive to empower young people across the state.
The initiative, implemented under the administration of Governor Bassey Otu, is designed to equip youths with practical, industry-relevant skills, entrepreneurship knowledge and educational opportunities that will enhance employability, encourage innovation and promote economic growth.
The approved training areas include Digital Marketing, Content Creation, Welding and Fabrication, Entrepreneurship, Fashion Design, Cake Making, Tourism and Hospitality, Programming, Robotics, Drone Technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Modern Agriculture, Music Production, Electrical Installation, and Catering and Hospitality.
To ensure wider participation, the training will be conducted across the state’s three senatorial districts. Beneficiaries from the Northern Senatorial District will attend training at the Ogoja Council Hall, Ogoja, while those from the Central Senatorial District will be trained in Ikom. Participants from the Southern Senatorial District will attend designated centres in Calabar, including Prof. Eyo Ita House, Women Development Centre, Freeman Hotel, the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Pitch & Play Academy and Benco Fabrication Academy.
According to the organisers, training will commence on Monday, August 3, 2026, with daily sessions beginning at 10:00 a.m. Successful applicants have been advised to report to their assigned training centres with all required registration documents.
The programme forms part of the state’s broader youth empowerment agenda aimed at creating opportunities for skills development, self-employment and sustainable livelihoods.
