The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has denied claims that the Office of the Head of the Civil Service approved staff deployment or office accommodation for the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Walson-Jack made the clarification on Wednesday while appearing before the House of Representatives Committee investigating the activities of the alleged fake government agency.
She told lawmakers that her office neither deployed civil servants to the council nor allocated office space for its operations. She also dismissed claims that the PFIPC had an approved organisational structure or full recognition as a federal government agency.
According to the Head of Service, the only approvals granted by her office were an authorised establishment and a provisional recruitment waiver. She explained that these approvals were issued based on documents submitted by representatives of the organisation and should not be interpreted as full government recognition or authorisation to operate as a federal agency.
Her testimony comes as the House committee intensifies its investigation into the activities and legal status of the PFIPC following concerns over its operations and claims of official backing.
The ongoing probe is expected to determine how the organisation secured initial approvals and whether any laws or administrative procedures were breached in the process.
