How the US Lobbying Firm Offers to Help PFIPC DG Seek Asylum Amid Growing Controversy

Written by Mary Bassey

A United States-based lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has offered to assist the embattled Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, in seeking political asylum in the United States.

The firm also called on US authorities to investigate allegations Adeyemi has made against some senior Nigerian government officials.

The development comes after a series of statements shared over the weekend and on Monday by the firm’s chairman, Dr. Von Batten. According to him, his organisation has established contact with Adeyemi and is preparing to brief members of the US Congress and relevant American agencies on the claims.

Dr. Batten said the firm is willing to provide legal and advocacy support should Adeyemi decide to formally apply for asylum in the US. He added that the allegations raised by the PFIPC boss deserve independent scrutiny and should be examined through appropriate legal and diplomatic channels.

The controversy surrounding the PFIPC has intensified in recent days following questions over the council’s legitimacy and Adeyemi’s claims against top Nigerian officials. Nigerian authorities have yet to issue an official response to the lobbying firm’s latest intervention.

The case has continued to attract public attention, with observers closely monitoring whether the US government or Nigerian authorities will respond to the allegations and the proposed asylum request.
