NYCN CRS,Chairman Emmanuel Olayi Receives UNIUYO Delegation on Solidarity Visit to UNICROSS Accident Victims

The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Cross River State Chapter, Comrade Emmanuel Olayi, has received a delegation from the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), led by the Dean of Student Affairs, on a solidarity visit to victims of the recent UNICROSS accident.

The delegation, which arrived in Calabar to sympathize with the affected students, was hosted at the Youth House by Comrade Olayi. He subsequently led the team to various medical facilities where the injured students are currently receiving treatment. During the visits, interactions were held between the delegation and healthcare professionals overseeing the victims’ recovery.

Speaking during the visit, the Dean of Student Affairs expressed gratitude to God for the lives of those who survived and are recovering, while also extending heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased students and the bus driver involved in the tragic incident.

In a show of solidarity, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Prof. Francisca Bassey, met with the delegation and commended them for coming to Calabar to identify with the victims. She also appreciated God for the progress recorded so far and encouraged the survivors to remain strong during their recovery process.

Prof. Bassey further explained that the students were returning from a sporting event when the unfortunate accident occurred, noting that the vehicle was in good condition prior to the journey.

The visit was attended by state and institutional youth executives under the NYCN, as well as the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by Comrade Emmanuel Michael, alongside other youth stakeholders.
