Calabar, Cross River State – Partners for Peace in the Niger Delta (P4P) has strongly condemned the recent assault on a minibus driver, allegedly carried out by individuals affiliated with the Calabar Municipal Council.

“This kind of barbaric behavior has no place in our society. It tarnishes the image of Cross River and discourages visitors from coming to our state,” Esien stated.

As an organization dedicated to peacebuilding and conflict resolution, P4P condemned the attack as both unfortunate and unacceptable. The group also commended the Mayor of Calabar, Apostle (Rt. Hon.) James Anam, for his prompt action in disbanding all revenue task forces in the municipality—a decision they believe will allow for a thorough investigation and restore order.

“We appreciate Apostle Anam’s swift response in dissolving the task force. This step will enable proper investigations and ensure peace prevails,” Esien added.

Partners for peace (P4P) called on the government to ensure justice is served to prevent future incidents of violent enforcement practices. Authorities have yet to release a full report on the incident, but investigations are ongoing to identify those involved.
