Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has stated that if anyone deserves to be imprisoned for the current state of the nation, it is Nigeria’s political class.
Speaking during a public engagement, Obi criticized the country’s leadership and governance, arguing that politicians should be held accountable for the challenges facing Nigerians.
According to him, “If anybody should be in jail, it should be us politicians for what we have done to the country.”
The former Anambra State governor stressed the need for greater accountability, responsible leadership, and reforms that prioritize the welfare of citizens.
He maintained that Nigeria’s political leaders must take responsibility for the nation’s socio-economic difficulties rather than shifting blame to others.
Obi’s remarks have since sparked widespread reactions across social media, with many Nigerians debating his comments on political accountability and governance.
