Award-winning Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has publicly accused Euracare Multi-Specialist Hospital, Lagos, of allegedly attempting to cover up the circumstances surrounding the death of her 21-month-old son, Nkanu Nnamdi Adichie-Esege.
The acclaimed novelist made the allegation in a strongly worded letter dated April 16, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the hospital’s Board of Directors.
The letter was published on her official Facebook page on Saturday, where she explained that she felt compelled to make it public in the interest of truth and accountability.
According to Adichie, her decision to release the letter was motivated by a desire to expose what she described as the hospital’s alleged misconduct and ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future.
“I have decided to publish this letter because to keep silent about Euracare’s evil is to enable it,” she wrote.
In the letter, Adichie reportedly outlined her concerns over the events surrounding her son’s death and accused the medical facility of attempting to conceal key details instead of accepting responsibility and providing transparency to her family.
The allegations have generated widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians calling for a thorough and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death and the claims made against the hospital.
As of the time of filing this report, Euracare Multi-Specialist Hospital has not issued an official statement responding to the allegations contained in Adichie’s letter.
The development has reignited conversations about patient safety, accountability, and ethical standards within Nigeria’s healthcare system, with many observers urging the relevant regulatory authorities to investigate the matter and ensure that justice is served if any wrongdoing is established.
