Poland Hold Nigeria to Late 2-2 Draw in International Friendly

Nigeria’s Super Eagles were denied victory in dramatic fashion as Poland scored deep into stoppage time to secure a 2-2 draw in an entertaining international friendly in Warsaw on Wednesday night.

The visitors made a bright start and took the lead midway through the first half when Moses Simon found the back of the net after a well-worked attacking move. Nigeria looked comfortable for long periods but Poland responded just before halftime, with Kacper Potulski equalizing in added time to send both sides into the break level at 1-1. (Sofascore)

Head coach Eric Chelle made several changes after the restart as Nigeria continued to push for a winning goal. Their efforts paid off in the 77th minute when Paul Onuachu calmly converted a penalty after a VAR review awarded the Super Eagles a spot-kick. (Naija News)

With victory seemingly within reach, Nigeria defended resolutely in the closing stages. However, Poland struck a heartbreaking late equalizer in the fifth minute of stoppage time, ensuring the contest ended all square at 2-2. (Naija News)

Despite the disappointment of conceding late, the Super Eagles produced another encouraging display under Chelle. Nigeria showed attacking quality, resilience, and control against a European opponent away from home.

Goals from Moses Simon and Paul Onuachu highlighted the visitors’ offensive threat, while several younger players also gained valuable international experience.

The result extends Nigeria’s unbeaten run and provides further positives as the team continues preparations for upcoming international assignments. While the Super Eagles will feel they deserved more from the encounter, the performance demonstrated the progress being made under the current coaching staff. (Naija News)

Final Score: Poland 2-2 Nigeria
